Application Study On J Company MTS-MTO Combined Production Model Adjustment

J company locates in Guangzhou district, Guangdong province, has the same difficult asother manufacture companies face in the developed coastal areas that labor shortage in recentyears. Based on the historical data it is obvious that the order is cyclical fluctuations frommarket, there is obvious busy season and off season every year.In the past years, this company always produced after receiving customer order, thatmodel called make to order(MTO). Dilemma was the production capacity was excess in offseason against could not deliver goods on time in busy season, since could not recruit enoughworkers, the supply chain faced the same situation, especially in recent years.This thesis studied J company how to change the producing strategy from single make toorder(MTO), to make to order and make to stock combined model(MTS-MTO), based on thelabor market trend and order trait from market, so as to balance the monthly productionquantity, improving the production efficiency in off season and improving the on time deliverrate in busy season.In order to operate new combined model of MTS-MTO smoothly, J company had tochange the main production flow, reorganize the assembly workshops’ manpower, reset thelayout of assembly and packing workshop, redesign the related module in IFS system.After carrying out the combined production model, by comparing the productionefficiency, and on time delivery rate with past years, could conclude that the both wereimproved significantly.
