After the Reform and Opening up,urbanization process in China accelerated with continuing city expansion, and many agricultural and collective land in the suburbs were requisitioned, resulting in the birth of a large number of landless farmers.Housing Resettlement is a very common way offered by government to compensate and resettle the landless farmers, generating a special urban residential community form called “resettlement communities”.However, these resettlement communities often have problems such as location marginalization, rigid planning, poor construction quality, and lack of supporting facilities.Additionally, some of the old resettlement communities are facing secondary demolition. The research topic of this paper was born based on this background. This paper analyzes the spatial form evolution of the resettlement community, summarizes the characteristics, types and issues of community evolution, and proposes corresponding strategies. This not only provides reference for the planning and construction of urban resettlement communities in the future, but also plays an important role in building a more harmonious community living environment and social environment. From the perspective of space production theory, this paper constructs an analytical idea based on the ternary dialectics proposed by Lefebvre.Taking the resettlement communities for landless farmers in Wuhan as the research object, the paper analyzes the morphological evolution of the material and social space after the farmers moved in,and explains the dynamic mechanism behind the evolution. The ternary dialectics constructed by Lafebvre mainly includes three categories: “space practice”,“space representation” and “representation space”,which can correspond to the perception space, conception space and life space. The paper follows the research ideas: the study of “space practice” in the resettlement community is the study of the perceived material space, which means the evolution of the spatial form of the community, including the evolution of the physical form of the community entity and the evolution of the functional space;“space representation” study is to study the daily life space of residents, that is,the study of the spatial form of community society, covering the change of property rights and the change of social relations;the study of "representation of space" is aimed at the space of conception, which is often regarded as the political-institutional space shaped by power and capital, under this part, the invisible logic behind spatial evolution is examined from behavioral modes of both power and capital, then the dynamic mechanism is explained from the perspective of both and also discuss the possible crisis of space production. The main conclusions of this paper are as follows: at present, lots of issues such as unruly production behaviors, complex population flow.community management confusion and so on exist in Wuhan's resettlement communities;the evolution types of resettlement communities are classified into three types, which are recession, expansion and stability;in terms of the dynamic mechanism of the community spatial form evolution, the paper summarizes the top-down and bottom-up mechanisms, and different dominant mechanisms will affect the evolution of the community;finally, from the perspective of different production subjects, the paper concludes that the premise of future resettlement community spatial reconstruction is the equivalence of discourse power, and proposes corresponding spatial renewal planning suggestions and strategies from the aspects of material space construction and social space creation,In order to provide reference for the planning of the future resettlement community. The paper combines the research methods of planning and sociology to study the spatial evolution of resettlement communities, embodying the organic unity of theoretical research and planning practice.
