There is a virtuous relationship between corporate social responsibility(CSR)and sustainable development in the construction industry.However,it cannot be ignored that construction enterprises have problems in fulfilling social responsibility,one of which is contradiction between CSR statement and CSR engagement.In order to improve the CSR performance of construction enterprises,it is necessary to analyze the CSR behavior of construction enterprises based on the process perspective,and construct effective improvement measures accordingly.Based on the process perspective,it was found that the CSR behavior of construction enterprises should be divided into four categories by defining the category of CSR behavior in construction industry.Through comparing different types of CSR behaviors,the coupling coordination model was revealed to be able to effectively identify social responsibility behaviors.After using the coupled coordination model to analyze social responsibility behavior,the results showed that the correlation coefficient between the commitment value of the social responsibility behavior and the coupling coordination value is-0.203,and correlation coefficient between performance value and the coupling coordination value is 0.993.These coefficients were significant,which verifies the effectiveness of the coupling coordination model.Then,the attributes of CSR efficiency of construction enterprises were clarified after defining the connotation of CSR efficiency in construction industry.Based on the analysis of the shortcomings in existing CSR efficiency measurement methods,the three-stage DEA model could eliminate the influence of environmental factors and effectively measure the CSR efficiency of construction enterprises through case verification and model results comparison.According to the competence-based theory and resource-based theory,this paper analyzed the impact path of social responsibility efficiency on social responsibility behavior of construction enterprises.The multi-regression model showed that the influence coefficient of the impact path is 1.027,which is significant.That is,with the improvement of CSR efficiency,construction enterprises would gradually prefer the performance-oriented CSR behavior.Based on the neo-institutional theory,this paper analyzed the role of peer pressure in the mechanism driving CSR efficiency and CSR behavior in construction corporations,and then revealed that the social responsibility behavior of construction enterprises followed the formation path of "peer effect-CSR competence-CSR behavior" based on the causal steps approach.By analyzing the sources of peer pressure and exploring the imitative preferences of CSR behaviors in construction enterprises,it was found that the peer pressure from large-scale enterprises and state-owned enterprises more effectively affected the CSR efficiency,and thus improved the CSR behavior of construction enterprises.The research results can not only more comprehensively demonstrate the essence of CSR behavior,but also expand the formation mechanism of CSR behavior in the construction enterprises.It can also enable the government and practitioners to more fully understand the CSR behavior of construction enterprises,and help them to effectively assess the CSR behavior.Furthermore,these results can provide a basis for the government to use institutional measures in improving the CSR behavior in construction industry.
