With the development of urbanization and minority birth in China,the problem of insufficient students in rural primary schools has intensified,and the phenomenon of campus idle space has also emerged one after another.In order to cope with the crisis of minority children,Taiwan has taken measures to activate the idle space of campus for a long time and has abundant practical experience.Through the field investigation of primary schools in Taiwan,we can understand the current idle space of the school and the corresponding activation methods,which will provide a realistic basis for the activation and utilization of the idle space in the rural primary schools in mainland China.Xiamen and Taiwan have a high degree of similarity in climate,language,culture and belief.Therefore,the scope of this study is limited to the rural primary school campus in Tong'an District,Xiamen.The first part of the thesis points out the current problem of the idle space of the rural primary schools in China from the realistic background of urbanization,minority birth and rural education reform,and clarifies the purpose and significance of the research.The second part,through the investigation and analysis of the actual case of the idle space in primary schools in Taiwan,to understand the types and problems of the idle space of the school,and further summarize four activation strategies for each kind of idle space:space compounding,space opening,space popularization and space interesting.In the third part,starting from the reality of the idle space of the rural primary schools in Xiamen,through many investigations,the idle space situation in Tong an District rural primary schools has been found.Then summarize and sort out the status and types of idle space in Xiamen rural primary schools.With the help of excellent activation cases of primary schools in Taiwan,this paper try to propose the corresponding idle space activation design intention to solve the existing problems of rural primary schools in Xiamen.In the fourth part,two typical campuses are selected from the investigation case of Xiamen Rural Primary Schools,and the activation strategies summarized above are used for the optimal design.In the activation and utilization of the campus idle space,this paper also considers the implementation of the educational concept,carries out the characteristic culture curriculum,encourages the open campus,and builds the characteristic rural primary schools with the help of the community.However,the situation of idle space in rural primary schools is not limited to the Xiamen area.It is traced back to the local profile,the culture of each campus,every type of idle space is totally different.From the universality to the local adjustment,we should analyze the specific problems and change the existing state of campus inactivation to make efforts for the revival of rural culture,which makes the thesis have certain practical significance.
