Since the 1970 s,with the rapid industrialisation of China, there has been a massive loss of population from the countryside, leading to a gradual marginalisation and hollowing out of rural development. At the same time, the decline in the number of school-age children in the countryside was accelerated by the family planning policy, which made it impossible for rural primary schools to continue operating and led to the emergence of a large number of "sparrow" schools. In order to promote the integration of urban and rural development and the rational allocation of educational resources, the state decided to reorganise the layout of rural primary schools and promulgated the Decision of the State Council on the Reform and Development of Basic Education to guide the reform of rural education. However, along with the reorganization of rural primary schools,a large number of village-run primary schools have been left idle, resulting in a serious waste of rural resources and hindering the development of rural areas to a certain extent. The article explores the reuse model and revitalization and renovation strategies of idle primary schools from the perspective of rural idle primary school renovation and reuse, and promotes the revitalization and development of rural villages through the revitalization of rural idle resources, aiming to provide reference for the implementation path of rural idle primary school reuse and rural revitalization in China. The study consists of five parts: firstly,we analyse the causes of unused primary schools in China’s rural areas, taking the unused primary schools in Wumiao Township of Qianshan City as the research object and formulating a framework for the study;secondly,we study the relevant theories and characteristics of unused primary schools, and summarise what we can learn from them by analysing relevant successful cases,so as to lay the foundation for proposing specific strategies in the later part of the study;secondly,we investigate the impact of the removal of schools on the whole city of Qianshan and the distribution of unused primary schools after the removal. The study also investigates the impact of the abolition of schools on the whole city of Qianshan and the distribution of unused primary schools after the abolition, investigates the current situation of unused primary schools in Wumiao Township, analyses the existing problems of unused primary schools and the feasibility of their renovation, and proposes four models for the adaptive re-use of unused primary schools, including the direction of culture and education, recreation and exhibition, public services and investment and construction. Then,we analyse the characteristics of environmental resources and the current situation of villages in Wumiao Township, and conduct a public opinion survey on the adaptive re-use of unused primary schools and the actual needs of villagers by means of questionnaires and interviews, and then propose specific adaptive transformation strategies such as functional configuration renewal, spatial layout reconstruction, spatial vitality enhancement, rural style continuation, etc.;finally,we verify the feasibility of the proposed strategies through the actual adaptive re-use projects of two unused primary schools,Chengchong Primary School and Huazhou Primary School in Wumiao Township,Qianshan City. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed strategies is verified through the actual reuse of two unused primary schools in Wumiao Township and Huazhou Primary School.Figure 88 table 17 reference 83... |
