Industry is the main driving force and material foundation to promote social development,and occupies an absolutely dominant position in the whole national economy.Industrial building in use and functional requirements,different from the general civil construction.The carrier of industrial building service is the industrial production space.In the current stage of rapid development of society,industrial buildings still occupy a large proportion in the architectural design and urban planning,and need to attach great importance to the problems encountered in the design.With the development of social economy and the progress of the times,people's requirements for industrial construction projects are becoming more and more complex,and the difficulty of industrial building design is also increasing gradually,which puts forward higher requirements for the industrial building design.Since the introduction of computer aided technology in the engineering design industry in the 1990 s,it has been widely used and popularized.At present,there are many challenges in architectural design,such as complex model modeling,low efficiency of building design,low level of information of building model.In the implementation of the project,design work involves multi-disciplinary,multi stage,two-dimensional design at present,has been unable to meet the requirements of the Collaborative design,BIM(Building Information Model)as a new method of industrial design,a good solution to the Collaborative design,enriches all aspects of model information and satisfies other requirements.In this paper,the first chapter summarizes the background of the topic,the meaning and characteristics of BIM,and the application of BIM at home and abroad.In view of the current application status of BIM technology in the design process,this paper puts forward the framework and content of this study.Starting from the second chapter and the third chapter,this paper analyzes the design characteristics and problems of related professional in industrial architecture,summarizes the function of BIM based industrial building design in each stage of the project process,and obtains the application point and application target of BIM in industrial building design.Then,the difficulties encountered in the current industrial building design are analyzed,such as the poor visualization of the model,the low efficiency of data collaboration among the majors,and the poor reusability of the model.In view of this problem,the collaborative platform based on BIM is proposed to accomplish the coordination and sharing of professional information.Through the parametric design method,the complex model is quickly modeled,and the design information is used in various stages of the project.Finally,combined with two engineering cases,one is that the large span industrial plant is modeled by TEKLA Structures completes,the other one is that the Nickel and Cobalt production project is completed by Intergraph Smart 3D,and analyzes the application of BIM in the industrial building design.Through case study,the use of BIM in architecture,structure,plumbing,heating and integrated pipe network promotes the efficiency of collaboration and model visualization,reduces the collision between majors,and improves the quality and level of design.
