Research On The Service Of Art Subjects In University Libraries

The subject services of university libraries is the inevitable trend of the information development,which can not only promote libraries to form advantages in the aspect of specialising resources,but provide a powerful impetus to subject construction and development.At present,basing on the status quo of library resources and collaborating their superiority conditions,more and more University libraries have brought subject services into their developing plan and made further exploration and research of it,and some of which have accumulated precious experiences in practice.However,comparing the subject services of Arts with other disciplines,the subject services of Arts is comparatively slow.Up to now,the explorations and researches of subject service of Arts are only carried out by a few of Arts-professional universities in our country,which result in a big distance from the overall developing status of subject service.All conditions considered,this is caused by two main reasons,one of which is that Art subject is not the key disciplines in many comprehensive universities,in which the library subject service is inclined to provide services to key disciplines;and the other is that Art discipline,different from other disciplines,with typical characteristics of variety and rich forms,requires that the resource services should be in the form of a more diverse forms and then increase the difficulty of the arts discipline service.Actually,the development of Art discipline needs no less subject services than ot her disciples,which may deserve higher requirements than other disciplines in the content and development of resources.Based on the above situation,this thesis will probe into a research on the subject service of Art discipline of universities.The first part of the thesis is the introduction of the background,significance and current studies of subject service of university libraries.The second part is the theoretical basis,which is about the concept and theories of subject survices.The third part is a research carried out in three universities in shandong province by means of questionnaire survey,with the purpose of knowing about the perception level of subject service of art teachers and students,the demand of information service of them,and the status quo of the subject service of arts in these schools.By analyzing the survey results,the author aims to find out the current problems of subject service of arts in university libraries,and make a design of the content of subject service and bring up some strategies for the development of subect service of arts.On the combination of theory andpractice,and on the basis of successful experiences of other disciplines and typical characteristics of arts,this thesis tries to put forward the developing approaches and directions of subject service of arts,provide references and models for university library to carry out the subject services of arts,and then promote the construction and development of Chinese art discipline.
