With the development of science and technology of information andthe arrival of the era of citizen reading. Some phenomena likefragmented reading is changing the way of citizen reading. Non-continuoustext consists of pictures andtables, which has the advantages of clearness and needs of rapid information retrieving. As PISA(Program for International Student Assessment) came to China in 2009,Non-continuous text has arose the concern of Chinese Teaching. The standard of Chinese new lesson issued the concept firstly in 2011. Reading non-continuous text is not only a requirement of new Chinese lesson standard ,but one of important parts in Chinese learning as well.However, there are some problems about non-continuous text On the one hand,Non-continuous text has a great teaching value, which can play an significant role in improving students'using abilities of Chinese ; On the other hand,the teaching contents and situation are not good for middle school students. In order to address these problems,this study aims to further the practice of Chinese teaching and to realize the current teaching situation by questionnaires for students and conversation to Chinese teachers.The study consists of four parts. The first chapter defines the concept of non-continuous text and classifies the types of non-continuous text with the material of literature text and the character of Chinese subject. Secondly, the using ability of Chinese is explained clearly by narrowing the abilities of listening,Speaking,Reading and Writing to locate the abilities in information aspect. The characters of practicing and using ability and the relationship between non-continuous text and the using abilities in Chinese are also be further researched .The second chapter aims to research and analysethe teaching current situation of uncontinous text. The writer uses the ways like questionaires,conversation and so on to research the teaching situation of non-continuous text. For example, the clients of the question are middle school students from seven grade to nine grade.The teachers who were conversed are Miss Sun and Miss Wu.The writer also analyses the using situation of non-continuous text in middle school textbooks and High school entrance exams. It can be concluded that the importance of non-continuous text is underestimated.The third chapter gives some suggestions to the teaching of Non-continuous text in two aspects. From teaching contents, it is suggested to use current text and develop living resource owing to the lack of non-continuous text. From teaching formats, teachers are able to use strategies like mind map and outline to enforce the students 'abilities of reading and translating from pictures.The fourth chapter provides teaching designs for non-continuous text.To enhance students' Chinese using abilities and manifest the pertinence of teaching suggestions, the research uses some case-studies to explained more clearly.
