Objectiveto observe the clinical efficacy for treating stiff neck by combi ning Scraping therapy embedding A shi point with acupuncture on commo n used points for stiff neck, and to prove a quick and very effectiv e therapeutic method. The study is a randomized controlled trial that consists of a treatment(Acupuncture and Guasha therapy)and control(Acupuncture)groups.Method60 patients divided into treatment group and control group.control group include only acupuncture treatment.Treatment group include acupuncture treatment while Guasha scraping therapy twice a week. The points of prescription contains Cervical Paravertebral point,Jianjing(GB21),Dazhui(GV14),Houxi(SI3).treatment time is 30min.Guasha Therapy include every session gets red spots on the skin less than 5min.2?3times a week and 10 session in total.Treatment can do when skin recover from last session.Treatment Group session include the points of prescription contains Cervical Paravertebral point,Jianjing(GB21),Dazhui(GV14),Houxi(SI3).Arthralgia due to pathogenic Wind-Cold add Fengchi(GB20),Waiguan(TE5).Blood stagnation in the meridians due to overexertion add Geshu(BL17).Liver and Kidney deficiency add Ganshu(BL18),Shenshu(BL23),Zusanli(ST36).Every session lasted 30mins.3 times a week and 10 sessions in total.Based on the acupuncture treatment, treatment group involved the scrapping therapy as well. The scrapping locations is ashi point which is most painful area.Every session lasted until skin gets red spots on the skin.2?3times a week and 10 session in total.Apply gently and slowly scraping on deficiency type patient who having period, weak constitution,or liver and kidney deficiency syndrome.strong manipulation is not suitable for those patient, because strong stimulation is for reduce excess. Thus, strong and quick scraping is for excessive patients who having arthralgia due to pathogenic wind-cold type and blood stagnation in the meridians due to overexertion type.If the red spot on the neck by last treatment session stay until next treatment, each treatment scrapping on different area on ashi points located on neck or around scapula and thoracic vertebrae.Control group include the points of prescription contains Cervical Paravertebral point,Jianjing(GB21),Dazhui(GV14),Houxi(SI3).Arthralgia due to pathogenic Wind-Cold add Fengchi(GB20),Waiguan(TE5).Blood stagnation in the meridians due to overexertion add Geshu(BL17).Liver and Kidney deficiency add Ganshu(BL18),Shenshu(BL23),Zusanli(ST36).Every session lasted 30mins.3 times a week and 10 sessions in total.Guasha therapy is not involved. The results will be evaluate before and after the treatment by signs form Northwick Park Neck Pain Questionnaire(NPQ)such as measure the pain points before treatment,2 weeks after treatment,4 weeks after treatment.ResultsThe Study recruited a total of 60 participants and excluded five cases.the participant gender representation within the study is female(74.2%;n=46)and 22.6%male(n= 14).the subjects aged from 15 to.65 years.according to central limit theorem, each group' s number are over 30.so it verified on the assumption of normality.and Levene' s Variance assumption need to be p>0.05.accordingly,significant probability is 0.000(p<0.05).it supports alternative hypothesis. It means between points of groups and period of treatment have relation.ConclusionStiff neck is a common problem in any ages.Guasha is one of many effective treatments in traditional Chinese medicine.this study is observed the clinical efficacy for treating stiff neck by combining Scraping therapy embedding A shi point with acupuncture on common used points for stiff neck.and Combination of acupuncture and Guasha therapy-proved a quick and very effective therapeutic method for the stiff neck.
