Research On The Concept And Characteristics Of Data Journalism Production In "The Paper News"

As an innovative news reporting method,data journalism has become an area of constant concern and practice by the media in the past decade.In order to further understand the production mechanism and practical level of domestic media in data journalism,this study selected Chinese representative media "The Paper News" to study the production concepts and characteristics adhering to its data journalism.This research uses content analysis as the main research method,taking 432 original data journalism published in the three years of 2017-2019 as the analysis unit,and quantifying the content of the report to summarize the production concept of the data news;Research on the characteristics of data journalism in three aspects: data application,visual production,and narrative mode.After quantitative research,the author found that the concept of data journalism production for The Paper News are as follows: the topic of the report pays attention to society and is close to people's livelihood,the coverage of the report focuses on domestic and international considerations,and the reporting position is objective and fair.In terms of production characteristics,The Paper News data journalism reports are as follow: the use of data is mainly based on the use of second-hand data;the visual performance is characterized by conciseness and freshness,and the focus is on providing an interactive reading experience;the narrative is based on the linear model of the central line series.Based on the conclusions of the above research,this article also analyzes the cause of the data journalism performance of The Paper News in the context of the current communication background;and on the basis of insight into the excellent data journalism production experience at home and abroad,I put forward some thoughts on the data journalism production for The Paper News.This research is a relatively comprehensive and in-depth study on the data journalism production concepts and characteristics of The Paper News.The research sample is rich and the research conclusions are more objective.It provides a reference for readers to understand the experience of The Paper News and domestic media's data journalism production.
