Construction To China's National Image From Headlines In China Daily(2012-2016)

Positive image is the potential power of a country,which exerts a profound influence on the national interest and foreign relations,and even threatens the national security.The construction of national image has a very important strategic position in the process of modernization and reform and opening-up in China.China Daily as a full English newspaper,is a platform to build a good image of our country,in China's good image of the external dissemination process plays an important role.This paper focuses on how to build and present China's image in the headlines from 2012 to 2016 China Daily.This research takes the Marxist journalism and communication theory as the guidance,mainly uses the sample survey method,the text content analysis method and the contrast analysis method,carries on the analysis to "China Daily" in constructs the national image the microscopic technique and the macroscopic strategy,and to "China Daily" Report in the process of shaping and disseminating the image of China some of the shortcomings of the reflection.On this basis,to build our country's good national image in the international community as the goal,for future generations on how to use the news media to build a positive image of China and how to spread in the process of the dissemination of better national image to provide a certain reference.In this paper,all front-page headlines from the January 2012 to December 2016 China Daily were used as a study to extract the front-page headlines of Monday,Wednesday and Friday as samples for research and analysis.Through a quantitative analysis of 769 reports from 2012 to 2016 China Daily,the paper finds that China Daily's front page headlines build a national image of the micro-techniques mainly include: the use of a variety of reports,the balance of international and domestic coverage,the choice of multiple sources to increase news reliability,the content of the report rich topics.After analyzing the headlines from 2012 to 2016 China Daily,we can find that China Daily has adopted the following macro-strategies in the construction of China's national image: first,using the "Global media event" report to build the image of China's peaceful rise and commitment to global development.Secondly,using the report of "hot events" of the world's attention,it constructs a Chinese image of independence,defending sovereignty,people foremost,guaranteeing civil rights,protecting environment,green development,democratic rule of law,fairness and justice,safeguarding peace and openness and transparency.Once again,using the report about the excellent culture of China,we have constructed a harmonious and cooperative Chinese image.Finally,the use of refutation reports to clarify the misreading of foreign media is conducive to the full and authentic image of China.The final conclusion of the study is: only to reduce the official color to enhance the voice of the people,to downplay the political color to speak good cultural stories,to grasp the balance of reporting,to change the status of excessive publicity,China Daily can better build positive national image,to achieve better external communication effect.
