A Comparative Study On ACG Websites In China And Japan Based On Cultural Analysis

ACG,short for Animations,Comics and Games,is from Taiwan and currently be-coming a popular sub-cultural concept in Mainland China.ACG refers in particular to the animations,comics and games(galgame and video game)from Japan.Recently,with the dissemination of Chinese Bullet-Screen ACG website:Bilibili,the culture of ACG becomes more and more popular and influences a lot on Chinese society.Many researchers have studied on ACG culture from the perspectives of communication and cultural study.ACG websites,which have numerous users,are a symbol of ACG in-dustry and typical sample of comparative study on Chinese and Japanese ACG culture.However,there is still no study on ACG websites in all categories.So this study will research on ACG websites from all categories of video,photo,BBS,blog in China and Japan,using the link-analysis-based method and an improved web design analysis framework.Through the comparison of ACG websites in China and Japan from the dimension of influence and web design,this study concludes the status of the websites and find that there are similarities and differences between ACG websites in China and Japan.Bilibili has the largest influence among Chinese ACG websites while NICONICO has the largerst influence among Japanese ACG websites.There is a huge gap between other categories in influence.Chinese and Japanese ACG websites share the same cul-tural characteristic of Nigigen culture.But they have different styles of web design in columns,page length and photo ratio.Also,the preferences of advertisements show the differences of profit modes.In the end,this study uses Hofstede' s cultural dimensions theory to find the reason of the similarities and uses user image to find the reason of the differences between Chinese and Japanese ACG websites...
