As new symbol of press in the21st century, in essence, press websites display comprehensively every press’leader’s decision-making, business concept, publishing features and creativity in service on the Internet. Its role in the digital transformation period draws more and more attention from industry. With the development of publishing industry, the number of press websites grows continually. However, many problems come along. Many websites just look like certain network cards of their entity institutions. But the quality, service efficiency, user satisfaction and so on do not get enough attention. Work of analysis and evaluation of websites is an important precondition for guiding the construction of press websites. Through website evaluation, publishing services institutions and related sectors can get new understanding of press websites. Then they can modify and improve existing problems of press websites more pointedly.Link analysis is one of the main research of webometrics. This paper first describes the progress of link analysis research from four aspects as webometrics, search optimization, discovery of online communities and modeling of Web structure, and then finds out problems of using link analysis for website evaluation. To resolve the relevant problems, this paper proposes a comparative research idea which includes two index systems. One is subjective index system and the other is objective index system. Analyze two kinds of indicators with different methods, rather than process all of the indicators using the same method. Use AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) analyzes subjective indicator data to get websites rank named A and use PCA (principal components analysis) analyzes objective indicator data to get websites rank named B. Eliminate dimension between subjective data and objective data and then use PCA to analyze aggregate data to get another websites rank named C. Empirical result shows that the three sets of websites rank are broadly consistent with each other except several small alterations. Then we can say a series of evaluation indicators based on link analysis that we select are reasonable. And we can verify the reliability of using these indicators to evaluate websites by common indicators and common methods of evaluation. This study of quantitative evaluation is not only simple, but also eliminates evaluation bias caused by personal knowledge and different preferences. As new symbol of press, websites play a more and more important role in the digital transformation period. The concluding part of this paper gives a detailed description of press websites’existing problems and corresponding solutions.
