Storage system is one of the most important subsystem in computer.It is needed to modify the current benchmark tool to fill the requirement comes from enterprise and institute.As this reason,this thesis contains two works.The first one is to develop a automatically benchmark tool for block device such as hard disk drive and solid state drive;the second one is to reduce the test time under different test configuration which is based on the finished test result of traditional HDD,SSD and RAID volume.This benchmark tool is exactly focus on the raw block device to avoid the influence of the file system.The raw block device indicate the HDD,SSD and RAID volume.This tool is based on FIO benchmark software and developed under Linux operation system in using bash shell scripting.It is needed to maintain the varied parameter of FIO and make it being convenient for freshman as automatically program running.Besides that,the test result is also got on RAID volume to show the impact of interface speed and RAID level.The test data shows the impact of HDD controller,interface speed,RAID level,disk number of RAID volume,block size,queue depth and other factors and help to get the trend of performance.This thesis complete attached the goal by developing this benchmark tool and it is validated on stability and usability.There are two achievement of this thesis.One is to develop an automatically benchmark tool to test the block device.The other is to reduce the test running time as test configuration and parameter optimization.
