With the rapidly development of VLSI(Very Large Scale Integrated), the function of a chip become more powerful, and the size smaller, SOC(System on Chip) become popular in system development. The paper studies the design and implementation of a read-write control system for Flash in a dedicated SOC by use of FPGA(Field-Programmable Gate Array), intents to develop a dedicated read-write tool for the SOC manufacturer, which brings convenience for the manufacturer to test their SOC when tap out or update the data in the SOC before delivered from godown. The development of this tool helps to make the system development more efficient, and it shorts the development time cycle, saves the development costs. Since the programmable IC avalible to us, the situation of fixed IC been changed, designers can program similar ICs to different functions, brought big flexibility for the IC inventory of the manufacture. When programme IC, a dedicated PROGRAMMER or read-write system is needed, it mainly devided into universal type and special type. Universal programmable equipment providers design for most ICs with good compatibility, but it always been expensive, and Lack of flexibility. IC manufactures mainly focus on its own IC chip, they design dedicated read-write control system flexiblely with lower costs, brings higher practical value.The paper designs a dedicated read-write control system for target series of SOC. It satisfied the manufacture's requirements largely by making full use of the flexibility of dedicated read-write tools. The system allows to operate each Blocks of multiple Flash module in the SOC, the minimum operate unit is one word(four bytes). The controller provided a dual channel control with PC and MCU, which makes the operation more convenience. Because of some instructions of the chip is confidencial, the design provides a convenience way to modify the data in the program. The design integrated the program download function in PC impletation for MCU, eliminating the use of MCU debugger, convenient to modify the instructios. The design put forward a method of vitual switch for serial port, makes it easy to switch between PC to SOC and PC to MCU. In order to solve the problem of the different rate between serial transmission and the target SOC, make sure to read and write stably, the system introduces the internal Block RAM of FPGA for cache. The system provides a flexible interface for the target SOC, users can operate the SOC offline flexiblely.The study finally implements the read-write control system, it is proved to satisfy the requirement through simulated verification and FPGA board test. The design has practical use value as a special tool.
