The current average speed of fixed broadband in China is relatively slow,compared with that in developed countries.The average download speed of Chinese fixed broadband reached 14.11Mbps during the second season in 2017,ranked only134th worldwide.Approximately 40%of the users are still using copper-cable access,with a download speed of only 2.5 Mbps,while that of optical-fiber access can reach100 Mbps.Therefore,one of the keys to improve the average network speed is transform the copper-cable network.Based on the basic theories of copper cable technology and optical fiber technology,this thesis designed four different types of network frameworks.With average bandwidth and cost as criteria,the thesis found out that PON is the most sutiable technique for reforming coppler-cable network.In addition,based on PON theory,this thesis designed and optimized the transformation method in terms of bearer network,OLT,ODN,and quick opening of business.This thesis firstly analyzed the drawbacks of the current optical-fiber network,and then developed three different models of optical-fiber network.The thesis calculated their respective network protection capability and failover time,from which the advantages and disadvantages of the three models were conluded.Moreover,considering total bandwidth,individual finally-allocated bandwidth,and permeability,this thesis took OLT as the optimal solution.In addition,based on power attenuation and bandwidth allocation principle,and combined with the final light attenuation and network speed of different ODNs,the thesis presented the best approaches to establishing ODN network.Besides,in terms of the inefficiency of new business opening after transformation,this thesis analyzed opening time and the efficiency of each procedure,and finally proposed a more efficient method of business opening.Based on all the research carried out above,the replacement of the previous copper cables with fibers is conducted in a certain community,and various indexes before and after the transformation were evaluated.This transformation case can provide some reference for other similar transformation projects.
