As the telecom user’s demand for the broadband access becomes higher andhigher, with the transformation from single-service to full-service, the user’s need ofbroadband access could not be met by the traditional ADSL access. Therefore, withmore and more FTTH access but less and less ADSL access, it is the momentum thatthe EPON technology is applied to conduct FTTH access.In this paper, the broadband access service in the Tianjin Unicom EPON systemis discussed in detail. Besides, in combination with the fault, way of handling the faultand the application experience, the design and the application scheme of handlingFTTH broadband faults in the Tianjin Unicom auxiliary system are put forward. Inthis way, the maintenance staff could log in the maintenance interface through theInternet Explorer to conduct port operation, code resetting and locking as well asunlocking of the account and check the port status as well as the user status.Thereafter, a special team was established in the Tianjin Unicom to conduct theverification and analyze the statistics. According the statistical result, the systemworked very well in filtering the faults. It shortened the duration of handling the fault,increased the customer’s satisfaction, lessened the amount of the fault tickets and thenreduced the backstage maintenance staff’s pressure.
