Therefore, the transformation of traditional DSL access way is imperative, fiber to the home will become necessary to meet20M bandwidth. EPON technology is more mature industrial chain from chip to the device is more robust, more manufacturers at home and abroad to provide EPON equipment costs are also declining, the EPON broadband optical access and FTTH is currently one of the ways. Type of technology used, the access method and how to implement the focus from the old residential copper access to fiber access is also this study and exploration.The goal of this study is the design of Beijing Unicom FTTH master plan. Research ideas to the key technologies of EPON and GPON, the combination of FTTH in the status of domestic and foreign design. The final research results through practical projects to verify that the design is feasible and, ultimately, the transformation of fiber to the home.The first chapter describes the background and positive significance in the Music City FTTH project modification. The second chapter analyzes the current PON technology of the mainstream, and a detailed study of the mode of operation and technical characteristics of the EPON EPON and GPON two techniques were compared and analysis.
