China Philippines South China Sea arbitration case pronounced judgment in July12,2016,which have caused the international community's attention.The South China Sea arbitration case relates to China's core interests such as territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests,China's foreign media conducted a series of reports to issue their own voice in the international public opinion field.In China's foreign media reports,the construction of media discourse is not only the manifestation of media reporting style and level,but also the product of social ideology and power relations,which influences the final communication effect.This paper take China's only national English daily China Daily as an example,analysis of the relevant reports of the South China Sea arbitration during July 2016,and take Holland linguist Van Dick's discourse analysis as the framework to analysis the text and context respectively from the perspective of media discourse in the report of the construction process and characteristics.The study found that the media discourse in reported differentiated patterns with the development of events,and concealed multi-level ideology.In view of the lack of ability to set up communication agenda and the imbalance of discourse communication,this paper puts forward the specific strategies of the media in enhancing the competitiveness of international discourse rights and the government's efforts in building a diversified external communication system.
