| In order to deeply explore the path and strategy adopted by China Daily,the largest official English-language newspaper in China,in the external dissemination of Peking Opera,this article is based on the official website of China Daily,by searching for the keyword "Beijing Opera"(PEKING OPERA)and selecting Classification and statistics are carried out on the report texts around the theme of Peking Opera.Comprehensively using the text analysis method,frame analysis method and text comparison method,this paper conducts an in-depth study on China Daily’s Peking Opera reporting strategy from the perspective of external communication.First,statistically analyze the number,length,use of pictures and distribution of keywords when China Daily reports on Peking Opera.Afterwards,through comprehensive analysis of these statistical results,starting from the high,medium and low levels of the framework theory,it summarizes the basic characteristics and changing trends of China Daily’s coverage of Peking Opera.Further discuss the strategies and key aspects adopted by China Daily in the external dissemination of Peking Opera.The results of the study show that the topics of Peking Opera reports in China Daily mainly cover Peking Opera performances and history.In its reports,the newspaper pays more attention to traditional classic repertoires in addition to reports on new Beijing operas and interviews with contemporary Peking opera artists.The report uses a comprehensive method of pictures and text,and the language expression focuses on detailed elaboration.Summarizing the characteristics of China Daily’s reporting on Peking Opera,it is found that it focuses on promoting the fusion of traditional and modern Peking Opera creations,and at the same time reflects the humanistic care of "personalization" and "storytelling" in its reports.Such reports not only show the rich and colorful Peking Opera culture to readers at home and abroad,but also lay a solid foundation for the spread and influence of Peking Opera.In addition,the article pointed out some problems in China Daily’s coverage of Peking Opera.These include insufficient in-depth reporting,weak follow-up reporting,and overly stereotyped presentation.As a traditional paper media,in order to adapt to the modern communication situation,China Daily constantly enriches the topics of reports,and improves the credibility and readability of Peking Opera news through various information sources and vivid and easy-to-understand language.This helps to provide high-quality information services for the audience and interpret Peking Opera culture with a richer reporting angle.In follow-up reports,China Daily should continue to improve its reporting methods,use its authoritative and credible media platform and a wide audience base,and with the support of high-quality content,report on Peking Opera through various channels and forms optimize.In order to conform to the trend of the times,the media should play their roles in conveying ideas,guiding public opinion,and serving the people through innovative interactive methods on the Internet,and let English-language newspapers find reporting strategies that are in line with China’s foreign communication policies and international news practices. |
