| Since 2011,the China-Europe Classical Train has come into the public eye,and with the "One Belt,One Road" initiative,it has gained much attention.China Daily(www.chinadaily.com.cn)is the earliest national English-language website in China,and has become a national comprehensive media website and the largest Englishlanguage website in China,playing a pivotal role in foreign communications.The English version of China Daily.com has 404 reports from December 9,2011 to December 9,2022,which shows the importance of China Daily.com’s coverage of the China-Europe train and the trend of the times.This thesis mainly adopts Fairclough’s three-directional discourse theory as the theoretical basis,and with the help of Van Dijk’s discourse analysis theory,combined with documentary analysis,case study analysis and discourse analysis method,this thesis selects the English version of China Daily.com’s reports on China-Europe Class Train from December 9,2011 to December 9,2022 as the research sample,and analyzes them from three aspects:textual analysis,discourse practice analysis and social practice analysis.The analysis is carried out in three aspects: textual analysis,discourse practice analysis and social practice analysis.The specific research ideas are as follows:Firstly,we will analyze the related achievements in this research field,i.e.,the research on the news reports of China-European trains and their foreign communication,authoritative academic studies on the discourse system and excellent journal thesis,in order to lay a solid theoretical foundation for the future writing of this thesis,and to find what can be innovated in this research.Secondly,the news samples needed for the study were searched,organized and counted to form the overall news samples,and each news report was read and extensively reviewed for background materials related to the CEB.Thirdly,on the basis of fully reading,understanding and grasping the content of the total news sample,the discourse analysis method was applied to analyze the total news sample from three dimensions: text,discourse practice analysis and social analysis,under the guidance of discourse theory.Fourth,on the basis of the analysis of the overall news sample,the discourse analysis of the news content is carried out,and the special features and inspirations of China Daily’s coverage of the China-Europe Class Train are analyzed to provide some reference and reference for the future development of the Chinese mainstream media’s coverage.The study of China Daily’s English-language coverage of the China-Europe Classes will help to enhance China’s foreign communication,make China’s voice heard,tell China’s story well,and thus enhance the national discourse of the China-Europe Classes,consolidate the status of Chinese discourse in the international arena,and improve the credibility and persuasiveness of China’s discourse. |
