In today's society,many places need surveillance equipment,it has widely applications in the industrial,military and civilian areas.Video surveillance as information technology is one of the comprehensive applications in various industries,people pay more and more attention to it.Traditional monitoring equipment has a lot of inconvenience,not only is not conducive to the operation of the signal processing,but also the equipment installation is complex,fixed position,cannot meet the requirements of anytime and anywhere monitoring in the same network.Under the background of the development of various technologies,the development of video surveillance system is full of vigor and vitality,which is tending to scale,network and intelligence.The combination of embedded technology and network technology is applied to surveillance equipment,so that people's work is not only convenient and efficient,but also free,this is a new trend of development.Based on the above background,this paper develops a multi-channel video monitoring system based on embedded system.The system selects Linux as the operating system,uses the raspberry Pi 3 based on bcm2837 chip as the core platform,achieves network communication by the TCP/IP socket programming,compresses the video data from multi camera,finally the video data is transmitted to client by the network.The system uses a number of USB camera to collect data,the amount of data in the video signal will be very large,the video data is uncompressed in the process of network transmission,may lead to USB bandwidth will be insufficient,image quality is not high,affecting the transmission speed of video data,the monitoring effect will be relatively poor.In order to have a better monitoring effect,the system uses the H.264 standard to compress the data,not only the compression efficiency is very good,but also will not affect the image quality after decoding,to meet the real-time requirements of multi-channel video surveillance system.This paper first describes the background and significance of the research on the monitoring system,gives a brief analysis of the current situation and future development trend for monitoring system,introduces the overall design scheme and architecture of the system and the selection and establishment of the hardware and software platform,finally makes a very detailed description for the whole system software design.The system has adopted modular software design.Software design is divided into video acquisition module,compression module and network transmission module.Video data acquisition module adopts the V4L2 architecture;data compression module adopts H.264 standard to achieve high compression ratio of video data;data network transmission module adopts TCP / IP protocol to ensure the reliability of the transmission.after achieve the software design of each module,repeatedly tested and improvements of the entire system to achieve the various performance indicators of the monitoring system.
