The Construction Of Current Western Leaders' Images From The Perspective Of Media Politics

In the present era of globalization and information,the relationships between the mass media and national leaders have become increasingly closer.The leader's media image is directly on behalf of the government,which greatly influences the support and success rate of its domestic and foreign affairs.And leader's media literacy and their techniques to use media are more and more important to shape his images.Leaders should not only work hard,but also preach their work well.In the political life of western powers,increasingly developed mass media has continually provided powerful public platform and technical assistance for national leaders to shape their public images,and given a valuable display space to some of leaders who are good at acting.The article based on the nature of leader's images and its importance and features from the perspective of media politics,demonstrated three major functions(beautician,destroyer and repairman)of the mass media to shape the image of a great power's leader.And then,it compared and analyzed how the leaders of the western powers shape their images with traditional and new media to rally support and win election,propagate policies and consolidate regime,enhance trust and remove misgivings,in order to prove the personal charm and emotional appeal in a good leader's image play an important role in national unity and the appeal of policies.
