The Research Of The Self Presentation Of College Students' Group In WeChat

As a typical social media making individuals' offline social activities turned to online,the WeChat provides a stable stage and a variety of performance for users.This paper focuses the relationship between the characteristics of Self-Present influenced by the WeChat in the two different field,realistic society and cyberspace.Therefore,this paper tries to study the Self-Present of college students,the main user group,on the WeChat by method of Virtual-ethnography,Participatory-observation and Deep-interview.The theory of Self-Present of Goffman works for the analyzation of the college students' self-presentation and its influence on the group on the WeChat in this age of mobile social network in this paper.The analyzation contains three parts of “why present”,“how” and “the consequences of the present”,The analization shows that the college student,the main self-presenting individuals,may positively accomplish the objective of “realizing the true-self”,“construct the ideal-self” and “show possible-self” on the WeChat working as a platform of acquaintances' relationship.Because of charateristics of WeChat,many problems such as the Internet chaos caused by misunderstanding,rebundancy of marketing ads caused by the decreasing cost,formalist emotional expression caused by the abuse of the red packet and thumbing up,could occurred on WeChat as college students' self-presentation happened.So the college students need more rational thinking and reasonable use on WeChat.
