As the widespread use of mobile devices, Moments, a social-networking function of WeChat, has become one of the most popular self-presentation platform for users. This thesis uses the questionnaire survey method to study the relationship between the user's extraversion, motivation and their self-presentation on Wechat Moments. In this paper, we examine the self-presentation of users on WeChat Moments from the aspects of frequency of status updates and self-presentation strategy. The author borrows Jones and Pittman's four self-presentation strategies to examine the overall style of the self-presentation. The study finds that most users are quite active on the platform and choose often or occasionally to share information on WeChat Moments. It suggests that ingratiation is the most widely-used self-presentation strategy followed by competence, supplication and exemplification. The results show that the user's extroversion has a very limited impact on the frequency of users' status updates and self-presentation strategies. Most users use Moments for social and entertainment purpose and fewer people use Moments for self-expression and professional advancement. The study also finds that the user's personal gender, education, occupation, monthly income and age and other demographic characteristics are not related to users' status updates and self-presentation strategy. While the number of WeChat friends, daily time spent on Moments , the frequency of the Moments use have a remarkable positive impact on the frequency of status updates. It can be seen, young users usually present themselves in a selective way,so as to achieve social or entertainment purpose. One of the most significant features of the WeChat Moments is ingratiation for social purpose, which both contributes and restricts the communication and interaction between users.
