This paper discusses the basic issues involved in the long-term preservation of ejournals.In this paper,we compare the characteristics of LOCKSS,CLOCKSS,Portico and e-depot,which are the four most famous preservation solutions in the world,and the methods to deal with common access events.In order to provide reference for the library and other institutions to develop long-term preservation solution of e-journals,the author discusses the basic duties of each stakeholder in a sound solution.In general,There are several basic problems involved in the long-term preservation of e-journals: including the problem of obtaining preservation object issues,long-term preservation and permanent access problems,cost and benefit issues of preservation and The problem of obtaining documents.This paper also discusses the basic responsibility of the responsible party in a perfect preservation solution:(1)The library is a major academic journal subscription,so it has its own special responsibilities in the preservation solution.(2)Publishers as the source of most of the electronic journal file resources,the main responsibility is to ensure that after the abolition of the subscription of continuous access and permanent preservation.(3)As the basis and the foundation of the project,the main function of the system is to ensure the smooth operation of the project with a good economic model.(4)At the national level,the responsibility lies in recognizing the importance of e-journal resources and providing more policy support to the preservation of e-journals.This paper also discusses the four preservation solution in the handling of four common access events:(1)The library stopped subscribing,but asked to continue access to a subscription to the journal,which is the most common access event.(2)Ejournals have published cannot be obtained from the original publisher,probability of the incident is very high also has a variety of reasons.(3)The publisher stopped the commercial operation,the publication of the electronic journals can not be obtained,the event caused great losses and test the agency and program risk management technology.(4)A catastrophic failure of the server during the publisher’s operation,the probability of this event is small but the loss is disastrous and coping costs is very high.
