Research On The Image Of "Square Dance Aunt" In The Perspective Of "Positive Aging"

'Active aging' is the process of optimising opportunities for health, security and participation in order to enhance quality of life as people age. Meanwhile,'participation is the prime factor of great significance, which aim to ensure that the elders are provided with a sense of security, belonging, and worthiness. With the rapid development of economy and society, how to make the elders maintain a good statein the whole life cycle, how to engage the elders participate in social life even after their retirement,has become a common concern of the international community.In a comment on the Guangzhou Square Dance article, Xinhua News Agency mentioned, 'There are more than 100 million square dancers nationwide, the main crowd is 30-65 years old middle-aged women. It can be estimated that with the arrival of an aging society,perhaps every family will have the elderly to join the square dance crowd. Square dance, which accompanied by urban development, is undoubtedly a cultural phenomenon and more a social phenomenon. As a significant part of the elderly group, 'middle-aged women square dance group' has triggered a series of social disputes. Hence, the study of media image of 'middle-aged women square dance group' has not only catch the sight of media circles, but also the whole society.In this thesis, firstly, according to the Beijing News, Southern Metropolis Daily,the People's Network and the Dayu Network in the report of this phenomenon, it is founded that most of the traditional media remained neutral, whereas the online media has a relatively negative attitude. This thesis will show data analysis of the similarity and the difference between multiple media. Secondly, followed by empirical research to get the public opinion on the middle-aged women square dance group; in terms of reporting on this phenomenon,summarised the media lacksand causes based on empirical research and text analysis. Furthermore, this thesis believes that the main reason of the negative media image about middle-aged women square dance group, is stereotype, stigmatisation and sympathy done through agenda-setting.And this seriously affected the public awareness of objective perspective. In addition,the author found that printed media, online media and the public have various recognition on middle-aged women square dance group. Getting further insight into this difference,the author believe that the result caused by deviation of main news framework, social awareness and agenda set,as well as media practitioners,subjective bias.In short,this thesis expected to analyse the image of 'middle-aged women square dance group' within the scope of 'positive aging'. Summarising as well as analysing the newspaper,social media and public's understanding of it,based upon which, to enrich these middle-aged women's amateur life; providing guidance and norms to encourage them to actively participate in social life. In the meanwhile,offering ideas to relevant departments in terms of strengthen leading, perfect mechanism, normalise act. Finally, it is expected that this thesis can provide some reference for the academics, scholars and the practitioners in this field.
