Today, population aging has become a worldwide social problem. In 2000,China has entered the aging society.Since the 21st century,China's population aging trend is increasingly significant. As a manifestation of social progress, population aging also brought a series of social problems, and continued to put forward new challenges to the prosperity and development of our country. The news reports of the elderly reflect the living conditions of the elderly population, but also reveal the status of the development of social aging. In recent years, the news reports of some elderly groups caused the controversy of the elderly, and the media image of the elderly was once negative and single. This paper takes news reports of "People's Daily","The Beijing News" and"Nanfang Metropolis Daily" in the past decade as research samples. It analyzes the newspapers on how to reproduce the elderly image and the "fall old" image quantitatively and qualitatively.Besides, this paper analyzes the formation and evolution of the media image of the elderly in China and discusses the framework of the media for the construction of the elderly image. The study finds that the overall elderly images of the newspaper are diversified, including the positive image, the negative image and the weak image. The "fall old" media image is more prominently weak and old, rude and unreasonable. In news reports,by constructing the macro-topic framework, the middle-structure framework and the micro-expression framework, the media builds several sides of the elderly image. At a deeper level, the formation of the media image of the elderly is related to the social environmental conditions, and it also reflects a series of social problems such as media discrimination.
