The Media Mirror Image Of "Help The Elderly" Events

Since the "peng yu case", the similar incidents "help the elderly" has been increasing reported by the media. "Help people but receiving a blackmail’, "no one dares to help", "help before forensics ", this kind of report content makes the public suffering an unprecedented dilemma. This study is on the basic of the analysis of 1098 pieces of news reports and 367 news commentary, and attempts to examine the following issues:how does mass media render the "help the elderly" events through their checks and choice, what does media chose to report, and by what kind of box frame the media to present and construct the reality.The study found that last decade, "helping the elderly" became the content of media attention with increasing number and attention of reporting. In the news, the media tends to use moral framework, conflict framework and factual framework, which moral framework occupies the dominant position, often telling techniques and simple regression factor logic one-sided statement of fact, finally showing two extremes:praising the rescuer and condemning the indifferent. Conflict frame is trying to highlight the opposition parties strengthen the confrontation between the two sides,and emphasize the weaker party’s tragic by tragical reports.And in the media reports,they often increase the "help people kindly but been framed" or "the good person is much more". Statements of fact in the framework is also not the truth revealed, but only simple facts list, although there are no obvious orientation and position, but also lacking of depth. Comment on the news media mainly uses the four frameworks to guide public opinion:moralframework, accountability and reflection framework, legal challenges and emotional tendency framework. Among them, asking responsibility and the reflective framework are often using the train of the thought"put forward the question then give the recommendations " to discuss,they often explore the reasons behind the incident and try to put forward the corresponding solutions.Moral framework puts news events in the moral sphere to analyzing and discussing, implies "moral decline" worries.There are some negative events been raised to the influence of the whole society and moral to discuss. Judicial query system framework holds the main station at a legal angle question judicial injustice.Emotional tendency framework is en-trained commentators obvious subjective mood.In the news commentary,the above four kinds of frameworks are not completely separate,a variety of frameworks often appear in a review article at the same time.Generally speaking, the media for this type of issue reports and comments on the framework have been increasingly varied, moral framework in decade has always been used. Accountability and reflection on the judicial framework, questioning framework certainly, multimedia is gradually being used. At the same time, conflict and emotional tendency framework are still attractive to media.Through the summary and the induction of media reports and comments framework, we found that the media reported the existence of the following questions: negative tendency is obvious, reports labeling way bulge, balance disorders and biase of serious, excessive pursuit of aging and ignore the search of the truth of the incident. In view of the problems exposed in the media reports, this study proposes the following suggestions and tries hard for the future of the media reports tended to improve the provision of reference:preventing the excessive negative tendency and guiding public opinion in a positive and healthy development; preventing the labels of thinking, abandoning the stereotype curing; preventing multiply prediction, giving space for the public and independent thinking; following the principle of fair and objective report and exposing the truth of the incident.
