The Media Image Of Mainland Students Studying At Taiwan's Universities

In the fall of 2011,Mainland students went to Taiwan to pursue a higher education degree for the first time.since then,a new group of students went into the public:"the Mainland students ton Taiwan" This study examined the coverages of Mainland-students-related issues from 2011 to 2016,which is the time period that Mainland students policy was taken into effect,in United Daily News,Liberty Times and Apple Daily,trying to conclude of the way of reporting,attitude and the images these papers present the Mainland students."On the basis of the collected sample,the researchers focused on the main narrators of the text,the narrative objects(Mainland students),the behaviors of the narrative objects,the narrator's evaluation of the narrative objects,and so on.,Content analysis was applied and descriptive statistics were given on the contents of the text,to systematically analyze and describe the way Taiwan media picture the Mainland students.The paper describes the description of the Mainland students groups and individuals in the way of text reading,and analyzes the hidden political tendencies and attitudes behind them by analyzing the sentences of the text.At the same time,the researchers used the method of literature analysis to apprehend Taiwan Regional "government's gradual opening attitude towards"Mainland students to Taiwan" policy,restoring the history background of the"Mainland students to Taiwan" policy.The study found that in terms of the Mainland students image,the "three newspapers' have different interpretations of the Mainland students' behaviors in the focus of public opinion in different issues and events due to their different political positions.The reconstruction of the Mainland students' image can be summed up in three types:one is the "victim" in the political wrestling of,which appeared in the constantly "consumption" between the "blue and green" conflict,revealing the terrible situation in the sensitive and complex relationship between the two sides.The second is discussed in dichotomy,including two groups of opposition:the Mainland students and Taiwan students,the Mainland students and foreign students.The third category is the discussion on the Mainland students' image in the center of public opinion.These "celebrity" students got attention mostly because of their behaviors that provoked sensitive Taiwan people...
