Research On Automatic Management Method Of Ethernet Storage Area Network

With the development of network technology and cloud computing technology, the digital information on the network increasing unbelievably. It is a huge challenge on how to storage so much information. In order to deal with the rapid growth of information storage, it is necessary to make the storage "outside" and "networking". Now, the Internet Storage Area Network has become the primary architecture of storage system. Because of so many devices in iSCSI SAN, The automated management is the key technology in the iSCSI SAN architecture system. On traditional, it needs the network administrator to setup the network, so it is disadvantageous to use the iSCSI SAN.According to the research on the iSNS(Internet Storage Name Service), a new method has been present in this paper, this method is based on the distributed technology, using the data synchronization theory, to make a database in the entire Storage Area Network. By this method, the whole network nodes can learn the information of the entire network, so the Storage Area Network access control and storage devices discovery can be managed automatically.According to this proposed method, some research on how to create the distributed database of information has been done. At last, this method has been tested on the COMWARE platform successfully. The result shows: It is useful on the storage area network management automation by using this method, it can make iSCSI SAN storage area network architecture to be simple, and improve bandwidth utilization of the storage area network.
