With the increasing explosively of data in network, SAN has been into to applied phase as one of the important solutions to network storage. Traditional SAN mainly bases on Fibre Channel protocol, and possesses some disadvantages such as short distance, high-cost and complex design. But now IP ptotocol has developed maturely. Therefore how to utilize IP technology to improve or replace FC is becoming hot issue.iSCSI, which is a new network storage protocol, dosen't consider the factor of FC and has been becoming standard at present. And there have been many iSCSI products. Constructing IP SAN with iSCSI has been important solutions to network storage.This article gives the overview about iSCSI and other two IP SAN protocols basic constructions, application occasions and communication mechanisms. And also we compare them in the aspects of efficiency, security, compatibility and reliability. Then it does some research on the key technology of iSCSI, designes and implements the general prototype ofiSCSI-KD-iSCSI-based on the research of other experts. We implement iSCSI protocolcomponent on NS based on the design of prototype, and utilize the component to present a simulation work of iSCSI-based storage system. Through analyzing the data from the simulation, we do some research on some parameters which have effect on the performance of the IP SAN base on iSCSI, such as TCP parameters. At last, we analyze the transport time on network of IP SAN based on iSCSI, build the parallel module of many tasks and many replications, and provide two strategies of data placement, which lie on absolute quantity of access and relativequantity of access.
