With the rapid development of the Internet, the network IPv4 agreement inpracticalApplication is more and more insufficient currently.And ithasseriously hindered the development of the Internet.In order to completely and effectively solve the seproblems,we need to build the next generation of the Internet.So the Internet based on IPv6 wasborn.IPv6 is the next version of the Internet protocol IPv4 which is inevitable to replace IPv4.The new characteristics of IPv6 will provide vastprospect for the application and development of the network.The current Internet network is based on the IPv4 protocol and still has lots of the IPv4 hostsand network equipment,so it need scostly and hugely torapidly complete the transitionfrom IPv4 to IPv6.Also with the risingseverity of network security,we have to consider these curity problems in the transitionprocess.By coming the transition with these curityproblems,it has the important academicand practice meaning for us to implement the fluent and seamless and secure transition from IPv4 to IPv6.The thesis firstly describe the significance,target and the currentstatus of the researchand the nintroduces the new characteristics of IPv6 agreement,Network Address and packet compared with IPv4 of advantageext.It introduces three commontransition technologies:tunnel technology,double-stack technology and protocol conversion technology.
