IPv6 is a more advanced and safer protocol architecture than IPv4 which is being widely used nowadays. Under the serious situation that IP address number is limited and running out,the transition from IPv4 to IPv6 becomes inevitable in a sense. As the current network services and architectures bring the transition an important and long process, the main purpose of this research subject is all about the research and testing of dual stack mechanism which is the most fundemental and important mechanism,to evaluate whether the transition process is stable and organized. The testing process is a time consuming process with various router equipments and measurement instruments getting involved and with scientific and rational solutions to ensure the veracity, validity and comprehensiveness.Meanwhile it reflects the situation how the current equipments support the dual stack technique to direct the IPv6 practical arrangement and boost. In the specific testing process, disparate methods have been used such as quoting from the network access testing report of equipments and testing actively or passive monitoring to ensure the process is being carried out smoothly. To start with this article, subject background analyse has being made to elaborate how important and necessary of this subject towards transition process of IPv6.With the basic introduction of IPv6 protocol and part of IPv4 protocol introduction as the comparison, this article underlines the superiority and importance of IPv6 protocol architecture. The structure of the testing solutions is being introduced in details to emphasize that the equipments should support the IPv6 protocol in functions and the performance index should meet the standards and requirements of the transition. The testing solution is divided into single machine testing and full mesh testing. IPv6 basic protocol, IPv6 routing protocol, IPv6 performance, IPv6 service quality, IPv6 quick convergence, IPv6 security, IPv6 network administrating and port aggregation are included as 8 parts in the single machine testing. Wide testing coverage ensure the validatiton of the testing outputs. The analyse of the 8 parts in single machine testing and the full mesh testing is elaborated as follows to states the desiging princlpes and ideas while the testing configuration topological graphs are listed in the article as well. The testing outputs of two core manufactures are listed in the following chapter for the discussion and analyse to verify the expected goal with the combination of required demands of the network. The main achievements of this article is listed as follows: (1)Get the latest testing data and supporting situations of mainstream router manufactures in the market on basic protocol, routing protocol, performance, service quality, quick convergence, security, network administrating and port aggregation. The manufactures are manufacture 1 (device 1), manufacture 2 (device 2), manufacture 3 (device 3), manufacture 4 (device 4), manufacture 5 (device 5), manufacture 6 (device 6) and manufacture 7 (device 7).(2)Get the first-hand datas and reports of the interworking situations of manufacture 1 (device 1),manufacture 2 (device 2) and manufacture 3 (device 3) and the interworking situations of bearer network CE manufactures:manufacture 4 (device 4), manufacture 5 (device 5), manufacture 6 (device 6) and manufacture 7 (device 7).(3)Get the first-hand informations of whether the IPv6 dual stack technique can be applied and reach maturity in the bearer network. Evaluated from the the supporting situation of the current equipments on IPv6 protocol and achieved the positive conclusion on actionability of the dual stack solution.
