In the context of the fierce competition of satellite television,outdoor star reality show is an important part they all want to control. But different programs have different endings. Some shows are very popular and the others are ignored to a certain extent. What are the reasons that made the result? The research tries to analyze the reasons from the angle of media consumption. Why do they choose the certain program instead of others? And which factor will influence their choice? We can know what kind of reality program can catch people's eyes by the research. What's more, we can provide a new angle for those people who produce the reality shows.This paper consists of five parts. The first part is an introduction, we made an interpretation to the research background, the research status and significance of the paper. The second part is the “definition of the outdoor star reality shows”. It consists of the definition, different types and narrative logic of the outdoor star reality shows. The third part is to analyze the consumption factor from the audience angle. This part combines the data form the questionnaire with the theory. It aims to analyze the psychological needs of audience. In the fourth part, we research on the consumption status of outdoor star reality shows. Firstly, audience ratings show how popular the program is. We can reach the conclusion by the ratings and hits. And we can know why they choose the programs from the interview. The last part of the paper is to reflect the status that media try everything to catch audiences' eyes and they ignore the responsibilities they shoulder. They should produce the programs audience loves and convey the right values to people.
