With the rapid development of smart mobile devices and mobile Internet in recent years, the demands for the communication data rate are getting more and more higher. Due to its unique advantages, the 60GHz wireless communication system has attracted more and more attention. According to the literature, the domestic research of 60GHz communication system is still in the initial stage. Therefore, this thesis chooses the quadrature mixer to study. As a key block of the RF system, the research of mixer has great significance. This work focuses on the design of I/Q up-conversion mixer for 60GHz transceiver in a 65nm CMOS technology. After analyzing the structure of two main transmitters, a sliding-IF super heterodyne structure is chosen. According to the system indexs and the characteristics of several typical mixers, the Gilbert cell based on active mixer is preferred. To improve the linearity and isolation of mixer, the input and output buffers are designed. The shunt peaking inductor and capacitor technology are also introduced to increase the bandwidth of mixer and reduce the layout area at the same time. Based on the circuit working principle and engineering experience, the layout is completed. Finally, the circuit is simulated and the simulation results are analyzed. The simulation results show that the OP1dB of mixer is greater than-15 dBm with 3 dB conversion gain. The LO leakage is less than-55 dB and the image rejection ratio is greater than 50dB. Moreover, the input reflection coefficient is less than-10 dB. The simulation results meet the system requirements and this I/Q up-conversion mixer is applied to the 60GHz transceiver system.
