High performance Network Over Coax(HINOC) is a self-developing research as the new broadband access solution in the background of the "triple play" implementation in China, whose goal is to satisfy the needs of the next generation of broadcast networks(NGB) development. HINOC 1.0 protocol has been released as a national industry standard in August 2012. At present, the research work fully focuses on HINOC 2.0 protocol. In HINOC 2.0, the number of users supported in the network increases from 32 to 64, compared to HINOC 1.0 while the physical layer bandwidth reaches 1Gbps which indicates the particular importance of designing and researching an efficient and rational bandwidth management and scheduling mechanism. In this paper a comprehensive study on HINOC 2.0 scheduling mechanism is presented including designing an effective scheduling mechanism and implementing it under HINOC 2.0 circumstance. At the very beginning of this paper, HINOC 2.0 protocol are described in detail, including network organization, performance metrics, protocol mechanism and prototype development; Secondly, major mechanism, the service requirements, performance metrics for existing MAC layer scheduling algorithm are analyzed; Thirdly, the core mechanism of HINOC 2.0 channel allocation mechanism is studied in deep, and the corresponding performance is exhibited. Then, two algorithms, based on queue length prediction and data arrival prediction, are proposed and implemented on the basis of the service requirements. In the end, the comparison is executed between the proposed algorithm and some other existing scheduling algorithm in terms of network performance and service satisfaction tests in a real implementation test environment. The comparison results show that the proposed algorithm is superior to the existing algorithms in terms of bandwidth allocation, time delay, packet loss rate and service satisfaction performance. Hence, the MAC layer scheduling scheme proposed in this paper specially designed for HINOC 2.0 can better appropriately meet various kinds of service needs. Moreover, the scheme is an important reference to the further research of HINOC 2.0 protocol.
