Future network will be mostly carrying streaming services, so there will be the tremendous requirement for network bandwidth. Coaxial cable transmission bandwidth is higher than twisted-pair or wireless very much, moreover it is used for television transmission has been widely laid in residential buildings in China. Utilizing the out-of band cable resources, High performance Network Over Coax (HINOC) technology provides subscribers with high-speed broadband access.This paper focuses on two aspects to the study on HINOC technology. On one hand, the design and implementation of packet scheduling algorithms based on HINOC’s QoS guarantee are discussed in this thesis. HINOC standard is described firstly. Then we give an introduction to the basic knowledge and research on existing packet scheduling algorithms. Based on these, a scheduling algorithm which is named Priority Queuing Scheduling Algorithm Based on Deficit Bandwidth Allocation (PQ SA-DBA) is presented and is tested on experiments tool we have implemented for HINOC. The test results show that PQSA-DBA can provide good fairness and bandwidth guarantee based on priority in HINOC network. On the other hand, conformance testing on HINOC protocol is researched. How to generate the test set of HINOC protocol is described in detail and conformance testing is simulated through SDL and TTCN. The simulation results show that the method of using TTCN to achieve protocol conformance testing is feasible.
