Design And Implementation Of A Distributed Wireless Mesh Network Management System Based On Mobile Agent

Wireless Mesh Network is a kind of multi-hop wireless network with the characteristics of dynamically self-organizing and self-configuration, With the continuous development of wireless network technology, the application of wireless Mesh network is becoming increasingly widespread. Mesh network's features of dynamic networking and multi-hop transmission make it's network management different from traditional wireless network management, which also increase the difficulty of management. An efficient network management is of great significance to the maintenance of the interconnected communication among the nodes of the Mesh network, thus it has great practical significance to study Mesh network management.Traditional network management always use centralized management model, with witch a single network management station manages the entire network's operating status, in this way, all the management information is brought together to one management station, which can easily lead to the decrease of management performance with the increase of the network size, at the same time, if the only management station fails to work, it will affect the entire network, for this reason, it is not suitable for large scale Mesh network. According to the characteristics of wireless Mesh network, the paper uses an efficient way called distributed network management. In this way, the management tasks are distributed to several different management stations, which can not only improve management efficiency but also avoid the station's single point failure, in addition, it can also improve the intelligence and robust of wireless Mesh network management system.The content of this paper comes from a project which is finished cooperating with a company, the project is called ”the design of a broadband interconnected communication system and the development of the demonstration system based on the mobile Mesh network on the sea ”. This paper analyzes the characteristics of wireless Mesh network within the project first, and then the concept of mobile agent is used to improve the traditional SNMP management, it designs a management control system of Mesh network on the sea. In the distributed network management system, the entire network is divided into several domains, in each of the domain, traditional SNMP is used to fulfill the management tasks, and among the domains, each of the management station gains the information of other management domainsby dispatching mobile agent, realizing the distributed management functions. In the paper,we also add a function of load balancing to the system, using the technology of mobile agent,the network management information and multimedia services information is distributed to management stations evenly.Finally, the operating system of Cent OS6.5 and the platform of Qt5.2.0 are used to realize the whole management functions, including configuration management, performance management, fault management and broadband services, the whole management system has a visible network management interface, network administrator can do operation with the interface to implement the various parts of the network management function. The system is stable and with good performance, which is in line with the expected results.
