Research Of Network Management Software Based On Wireless Mesh Network

Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) is a new wireless network technology which is completely different from traditional wireless network. It combines multi-hop technology of adhoc network and the traditional WLAN technology. It is compatible with a variety of heterogeneous networks (such as cellular, wireless sensor networks, etc.), and provide access to Internet for heterogeneous network. Because of these advantages of WMN,making it gradually be extended and may become the wireless backbone network, but with the gradual expansion of network size, how can manage the wireless distributed network give us great challenges to monitoring and management of WMN.According to the demand derived from the characteristics of WMN and theA NMP network management technology, key problems of wireless Mesh SNMP network management are studied based on the prototype router in laboratory, respectively from the agent, network management system and MIB.In the study of network management agency, the multi-threading mechanism which can receive multi-source SNMP commands and access control mechanism which can enhance the security of communications are studied. In MIB aspect, the private MIB that satisfy the wireless Mesh network management requirements is designed by using abstract syntax ASN.1, according to the characteristics of the wireless Mesh networks.In the study of network management system, firstly, characteristics of Mesh network topology discovery is studied. Secondly, a Mesh network topology discovery algorithm in backhaul layer and a Mesh network topology discovery algorithm in access layer are designed based on the traditional SNMP topology discovery algorithm.Topology discovery module which can discover topology of backhaul layer and access layer in wireless Mesh Networks is developed by using Java programming language and open source Java components (SNMP4J, TWaver etc), based on the proposed topology discovery algorithm.Finally, a small wireless Mesh network is formed in laboratory.The testing results show that the agent operates normally and the network management system runs normally.
