Study On The Visualization Of Investigative Reports In Southern Metropolis Daily

With the popularity of computer and the development of modern information technology, visualization techniques become more sophisticated and intuitive. Visualization is more and more widely used in the field of journalism and communication due to its distinctive feature. This paper takes the exploration for news visualizations of the Southern Metropolis Daily as an investigative example, trying to improve the visualization of investigative reporting.This paper analyzes the basic situation of the survey reports of the Southern Metropolis Daily, analysis of the reasons for the attention of news visualization from the media environment, needs of audience and the development of the media. The paper analyzes the news visualization exploration of Southern Metropolis Daily investigative reporting on news production and dissemination. This article is based on the content analysis researching method, taking the visualization of investigative reporting from the Southern Metropolis Daily (2014.6-2015.5) as sample, and analyzing the topic, origin, message source, type of investigative reporting and visualization, ways of presenting. Study finds that the topics of investigative repors in the Southern Metropolis Daily focus on people's livelihood, local news, multiple channels, the visualization on research reports, information chart, and usually paying attention to the data and events'internal relation of visualization. This article summarizes the advantages of investigative reporting visualization, including close selection of topics, rich visual presentation and focus on narrative-oriented skills; at the same time, the article pointed out the problems in the practice of news visualization. These problems mainly include the data is lack of scientific, the deficiency of depth analysis and the formalistic reports trend. The development suggestions are proposed combing with the experience of foreign media investigative reporting visualization practice. The proposals concern on strengthen information filtering and highlighting the depth of the news, improve the level of investigative reporting visualization, strengthening the visualization representation and focusing on the integration of visualization methods and innovation, intensifying the'bringing in and going out'strategy and training the visualization team regularly.
