With the development of integrated circuits, the requirements for integration and performance of integrated circuits are higher and higher. In this trend, I/O devices, memory, processor and so on are integrated in a single chip, which is the main form of integrated circuits, so the system on the chip emerging as the times require. The SoC is based on the IP reuse, with its high integration, low power consumption, small size, etc., has become the main development direction of chip technology.Firstly, in this paper, the LEON3 is analyzed, it uses extendable processor architecture, and it can be configured and integrated. In addition, the LEON3 has comprehensive fault tolerance measures to ensure its reliability. The design method of the two processes, making the code readability, extraction level is higher, the simulation time is shorter.Secondly, we analyze the AMBA bus protocol, and summarize the characteristics and the transmission mode of AHB, APB, AXI bus. As the extension of AHB bus, the AXI bus has the advantages of easy expansion and integration, and the performance and flexibility of the bus is extended. So it is suitable for high bandwidth, high frequency, high performance design, and provide higher performance in SoC design.Then through the research, the connection between AHB, APB and AXI bus is obtained, and the method of how to realize the conversion between them is studied. In this paper, bridges is designed to realize the conversion of the bus protocol, which control the conversion of the signal by the state machine, the controller, the counter and FIFO. According to the conversion of different bus protocols, the AHB to AXI bridge, the AXI to APB bridge, the AXI to AHB bridge are designed to accomplish the connection of the LEON3 and AXI bus.Finally according to the research and analysis, this paper accomplishes the process of SoC construction based on LEON3, and connects the bridges designed before. Through the software development environment and hardware design tools, and realize the build of SoC based on LEON3 and AXI bus. Then simulating the bridges designed to verify its function by the simulation tool Model Sim. Building a prototype of SoC in the FPGA, through the control program to control GPIO bus interface, TIMER which connect the AXI bus in the SoC, verify the feasibility of LEON3 based on AXI and SoC bus.The conclusion of this paper turns out that the SoC based on LEON3 and AXI can be built by the bridge. In the verification of the system, the SoC prototype is built on the chip, and the test program can achieve the ideal verification effect, verification of SoC is accomplished. And the problem of the connection between LEON3 and AXI can be solved by the research of this paper.
