Since the concept of MIMO radar being proposed, many organizations at home and abroad has studied MIMO radar at all kinds and the design of MIMO radar signal generator has become the important part of MIMO radar. With the fast development of relative theories and technologies of MIMO radar, radar system has put forward higher requirements of signal generator, multi-waveform multi-parameter multi-functional has become the trend of research. In modern radar technologies, the Direct Digital Synthesis(DDS) has offered solid foundation for the waveform generating technology of multi-functional MIMO radar.This paper taking Xilinx FPGA as the core, using AD9910 as the waveform generating circuit, the software interface as the parameter selection method, the Ethernet as the parameter transmission channel, designs a multi-function MIMO radar signal generator based on DDS. This paper describes the design and implementation of multi-function MIMO radar signal generator from MIMO radar waveform design, hardware platform, FPGA logic design and software interface design. System waveform is consist of The linear frequency modulation signal, the two-phase encoded sifnal and the orthogonal waeform signal. In this paper, FPGA digital clock management(DCM) resource is used to design the clock distribution, and the synchronization of different MIMO radar signal channel is realized by the flexibility of its design. Waveform realized and changed by AD9910 is controled by FPGA. Based on different requirement, Clock is designed by the single clock and difference clock, which make the design more flexibility. Software interface designed by MFC and MATLAB engine is used to select the types and the parameters of waveform, MATLAB emulation waveform is compared to the actual waveform. The transmission of the waveform is realized by the Ethernet. The practical tests show that the function and performance of the multi-function MIMO radar signal generator demand the design requirements.
