With the development of Ethernet technology,the Ethernet technology plays a more and more important role in people daily life.On account of the great mass data and the high speed of the high-speed data transmission system,and some embedded Ethernet data transmission systems have demand for the real-time data transmission,this thesis indicates two alternative system designs,combining the FPGA and the Ethernet technology.The two system designs include hardware and software collaborative system and hardware-based system,and they can meet different application requirements.The Ethernet transmission system based on the FPGA is a significant research with important actual meaning.It has a broad range of technical application and market economic prospects for signal processing and industrial Ethernet technology.At first,the embedded Ethernet hardware and software collaborative system is proposed,using the flexible and configurabel embedded soft core NIOS II CPU.This thesis introduces hardware and software two aspects of the whole system respectively.For hardware design,it includes the SOPC technology and the hardware platform using the SOPC technology which can provide service for the software.As for the software design,it includes ?C/OS-II real-time operating system and embedded protocol stack,and the socket programming to implement the data transmission.This system can meet the need of the design.In the meantime,to improve the Ethernet data transmission rate,another ethernet transmission system based on FPGA with hardware-based method is proposed,namely,the function of UDP/IP protocol stack and the MAC sublayer is implemented on hardware.Comparing with the TCP protocol,UDP/IP protocol are chosen to realize the transmission of the network on account of the UDP protocol has more simple implementation method and faster transmission rate.The function of the UDP/IP protocol stack is re-described with the hardware language which means that it is implemented by hardware circuit.Then the tri-speed Ethernet MAC IP core is configurated.And the MAC frame encapsulation and unsealed are also realized with the hardware language.Finaly the function of each module and the whole system is verified and the simulation results shows that the functions have achieved the desired results.The results show that the two transmission systems can satisfy the different requirements in practical application.The first system has high flexibility but low transmission efficiency,on the contrary,the second system has high transmission efficiency but low agility.They can be used for different system design according to the corresponding demand.
