Currently, with the digital image processing and video encoding technology is widely used, people have put forward new requirements for the image clarity and video compression performance. H.264/AVC as the JVT group proposed video encoding standard, because of its low bit rate, high quality image, strong network adaptive ability, and other advantages, it has been widely spread and used in various fields. However, because the H.264 is based on block transform algorithm for video images of encoding, so the block effect is inevitable. In order to reduce the effect of block effect, and improve the image quality in high compression ratio, so the deblocking filter in H.264 decoding system is introduced. In this paper, based on the research of H.264 encoding standard and the algorithm of deblocking filter, which are designed to meet the requirements of high speed and low power consumption. So a deblocking filter module with hybrid filtering schedule is proposed, which is based on the combination of the table storage structure and the reuse of computing unit. The whole deblock filter module is divided into three parts, and the internal structure of each module, interface timing and module functions are disscussed in detail, then the author uses Verilog HDL to code, and uses NCverilog to complete the simulation work and Verdi3 to debug. There is about 13% of the speed boost in the Macro-block Adaptive Field Frame mode, and there is close to 40% of the speed boost in the Non-Macro-block Adaptive Field Frame mode, which has actual reference value for the follow-up work of the project.
