Until the end of 2014, the number of people aged over 60 has reached 212 million, which is 15.5% of the population of whole China. On one hand, it depths the aging level, and hardens the service for aged people. On the other hand, new media is participating the services for the aged, and this phenomenon worth our considering and researching. After carefully consulting and analyzing lots of documents and researches conducted by others, I find that, first, the research into connection between the old with legacy media is much more than with new media. Second, most of them used qualitative analysis; third, there is quite an unbalance since almost all the researches on the relation between the old and new media are focused on how the aged people affect the media, such as research on old audiences, how elderly media develops and its value, and how media meets the needs of aging. While, there are few talks about effects on the old that media brings.Considering new media may play an important role when providing services for the aged, this article will put the point on the how new media works and the current problems and solutions. According to actuality status, I'll first point out the elements that influence the old's using of new media, and generalize how new media serves the old people. Next after analyzing the previous observed data and documents, several issues are proposed as contents homogenization without creativity, none professional expression, that the old are exposed to risks of losing assets and rights, and over usage of new media. After then, I'll discuss the proper solutions correspondingly.Once figuring out the topic, I mainly use questionnaires, individual interview to collect the information about how the aged interact with new media, and combine with data got from other public published articles. From those, we'll have a comprehensive understanding of how the old use new media. Then I summarize the motivations, preferences, feedbacks and difficulties during that process. For every weakness of new media serving the old we observe and analyze, I'll come up with some suggestions and solutions. With the fast development of technology, mobile networking, big data and cloud computing will equip new media to be intelligent media, and make it ubiquitous and helpful in many aspects, like normal living, health and care, security, shopping, entertainment and study. What's more, chapter 4 draws us a blueprint of how artificial intelligence helps new media make contribution to serve the old people better. This article is aimed to describe the vulnerability of interaction between current aged people and new media, analyze what improvements the new media could bring for these people, and discuss the future development of new media to make a win-win.
