Paper Space:the City Newspaper For The Production And Construction Of City Memory

With the acceleration of urbanization,the architecture,cultural relic,etc.streets,which contains rich historical relics has been demolished.Some of them have been varying degrees of damage,with the disappearance of these buildings,the combination of urban residents in mind the unique "cultural symbols" "mnemonic" also has gradually disappeared,to a certain extent,also caused individual's cognitive dissonance,this phenomenon has caused extensive concern of academic circles and the society from all walks of life.Media,especially newspapers,began to focus on the development of the city and memory resources,and thus have founded the city of culture special edition magazine.Such as the magazine "Guangzhou geography" of "Newspaper of Nan-fang" and so on,which have grown into the most influential magazine brand after years of operation.The common feature of this special issue is focused on the realities of city development,digging out area unique historical and cultural connotations,thus play a shaping city's image and enhance the cohesion of the role of cities.The starting point of this study,under the background of the urbanization,mainly out of thoughts on "Wuhan Evening News" column "City sensual" for the production and construction of city memories.Currently,the various forms of media competition increasingly fierce,the paper argued that newspapers by setting up the special issue for city culture was signiificant in enhancing cultural tastes newspapers and establishing newspapers and other aspects of the brand.Meanwhile,newspaper involved in urban construction and also played an irreplaceable role in the construction of local public acknowledgment of Wuhan urban space culture and self-identity.This paper,the "city sensual" of "Wuhan Evening News" as a case study,with spatial theory as a framework to analyze the content of the magazine from 2012 to 2014 for part of the article.The paper describes and elaborates the way in which Wuhan Evening News practices the production of city space and as a consequence,constructs a "Wuhan" collective imagination,hoping for that we can have implications in the construction of the same newspaper the study of the future of urban memory.
