Design And Implementation Of Northnews Content Management System

The information distribution channels have been changed rapidly because of the popularity of personal computers and the fast growth of Internet. News portal is one of the most important new media that rises among all new methods of information transmission. Facing tremendous amount of online data and increasing complexity of business, social media urgently requires systemic management to improve their services. Therefore, Content Management System (CMS) plays an important role in development of news portal.CMS is a crucial tool and platform for social media to release and distribute information. It integrates network resources as much as possible, and publishes digital multimedia based on actual needs, thus to realize social and economic benefits of web portals. In the meanwhile, it manages content publishers to improve efficiency of the portal. Due to the importance of CMS, numerous researches have been done to study this system and take it to the next level. This paper takes the Northnews as an example to illustrate its CMS design and implementation.The Northnews' CMS adopts B/S structure, and develops with PHP and MySQL. This paper starts by analyzing functional and non-functional requirements of Northnews' CMS. Then it follows by design and implementation of its six modules:user management, content publish, video publish, manuscript management, performance review, and comment management. Finally, several tests have been made to make sure the functionality of system meet the requirements and the system are working properly. As a result, the content management system have solved pervious problem of Northnews and improved efficiency significantly.
