On March 22, 2013, Xi Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan, arrived in Moscow,started his first state visit since taking office. At the same time, this was Mrs. Peng's first international appearance as ‘China's First Lady'. Thereafter Mrs. Peng becomes the focus of media at home and abroad.In the age of globalization, China is developing and gaining international vision in reforming and is keeping more and more in line with the international standards, such as politics, economy, culture and diplomacy, etc. "First lady" plays an important role in many aspects of a country's affairs in western society. Since the foundation of new China,however, due to certain political and traditional restrictions, there hadn't been previously a lady can truly be called "First Lady of China" with contemporary significance and functions. Peng's "first lady" image deserves a certain degree of discussion and research.This paper's analysis depends on People's Daily and Southern Metropolis Daily and uses Theory of image, Agenda-setting theory in communication studies to discuss Mrs.Peng's first-lady image in newspaper under the new environment of leaders report. And the paper also compares the ways mainstream media of different properties taken to shape the image of Peng Liyuan's first lady. The article finally discusses how our media can integrate international vision to do well report planning, not only highlights China's first lady's elegant and dignified personality, but also enhance her closeness, so as to better portray a first-lady image, promoting China's national image.After content analysis, we can see, from political, social and personal aspects, the two representative newspapers portrays Mrs. Peng's first-lady image as: complement to Chairmen Xi; confident, beautiful and fashion; incenting national industry ' s self-confidence, cohesion of national enthusiasm; and keeping attention to social problems,being keen to charity.At last, this paper suggests that newspapers can add other aspects to show a full and amiable first lady. For example, newspaper can increase reports in which first lady is the protagonist, and contact with aboard media, portraying full personality and characteristicswith more details and quotation. Newspapers should also break the tendency of entertainment, fashion and perspective on women, increase measurable reporting of depth analysis.
