Feminism, developed from the feminist movement in western country, has quickly hit other humanity and social science research as a critical method since it was introduced into China in the 1980 s, with journalism and communication being no exception. The media plays a more and more important role in people's life, gradually becoming the source of people's recognizing and understanding the world, and it has become the reflection of social values. A huge part of the research on the combination of feminism and journalism and communication is the female image in the media. The “First Lady” is a representative of a country's women. The image of the first lady represents the women's status of a survival and development in the nation. The media image of the first lady represents the social concept of women. Through the research on the first lady's media images and changes with them, we try to analyze the vicissitudes of the social and culture values behind them. After the founding of New China, there was no exact address for the first lady in the nation. Then later, because of the urgent need for national diplomacy, China's first lady started to make their international debut. Before then every previous first lady generally kept a low profile, with several low key appointments and courtesy visits. They were low on media coverage to portray the media image of a single woman. However, this tradition has been broken since Peng Liyuan became the first lady. China's First Lady, coming into people's view in a strong way, has launched a charm offensive in China.Taking the perspective of feminism theory as tools, using Frame Theory to analyze the media image of Peng Liyuan, by comparing it with the past images of previous first ladies, this essay generalizes the cause of their changes in the perspective of feminism and puts forward suggestions on the role positioning and the media image building of the first lady. This essay is divided into six parts. The first part(the introduction), generally introduces the research background, purposes, present status, methods and innovation points of the essay, forming the theoretical framework of the research. The second part mainly based on the Content Analysis Method, with a certain amount of the sample size, summarizes the reporting characteristics and the media image presented of Peng Liyuan. The third part shows the vertical comparison between the media image of Peng Liyuan and that of any previous first ladies. The forth part analyzes the cause of their changes in the perspective of feminism theory, from the dimensions of political environment, social culture, media development, etc. The fifth part, discusses the enormous impact made by Peng Liyuan, and the constantly consistent features of first ladies summarized, putting forward suggestions regarding the media image building of China's first lady.
